As we progress as a species with new technological advancements and increasing usage and reliance on certain technology has a visible effect on our environment — most notably fossil fuels among other harmful chemicals. In the past weeks, I’ve read a few of the articles and also 2 films related to our environment and have expanded my knowledge and awareness of our environment and our impacts on it.

Our environment is fragile and it is not meant to withstand the detrimental impacts of humans. which is slowly causing its destruction and will likely lead to our environment’s eventual demise. When I watched the movie Wall-E the issue of Earth likely becoming a dystopic wasteland was brought to my attention. So how do we stop the current steady decay of our planet? The main issue we are facing is our increasing influence on the climate thus causing climate change, which mainly includes the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. We can decrease our unnatural influence on the planet’s climate by switching to electricity-based fuel. The news report “Climate change solution could come from ‘electrifying everything’” presents a solution to zero-emission for Australians. Recently study and innovations do show that electricity-based renewable energy is very sustainable both environmentally and practically while being a cost-effective alternative to still widely used fossil fuel. Despite us humans being quite stubborn and will probably find it hard to transition to all sustainable renewable energy, it would probably be the best alternative once more people become aware of climate change’s immediate impacts. It is also evident that it would be difficult for other countries to quickly transition to all renewable energy, probably too late to stop or delay the inevitable impacts of climate change.

I think the world in 50 years would have started to suffer worse than currently experienced impacts of climate change and could soon be a dystopia as many predict and warn.
